Full Height, Full Character: A Veined Quartz Wall Leads the Kitchen
Some kitchens announce themselves with color. This one does it with a single wall of stone. Quiet white cabinetry, pale floors, and a wave of dark veining that carries the eye from the counter upward.
The trend: stone that stops being a strip
The backsplash is changing. Instead of a few inches of tile behind the counter, designers are taking stone the full height of the wall and letting one expressive surface do the talking. The calmer the cabinets around it, the more that surface can say. This kitchen follows the idea closely. The cabinetry stays simple and the stone gets the spotlight.
The wavy-veined wall
The stone is 2cm Portrush by Cambria, a warm white quartz with flowing gray and black veining. On the wall beside the sink, those lines move in long, rolling waves and turn the corner without losing their rhythm. The countertop below stays clean and light, so the wall reads as the feature.

The range wall
On the range side, the scope called for a full-height backsplash. In the photo, the veined stone rises beside the cooktop and oven run, while a softer, paler backsplash continues along the lit wall of cabinets. Together they give the kitchen a feature wall without a crowded look.

The waterfall island
The island top finishes in waterfall side panels, and the stone runs straight down to the floor on the sides. The white surface stays quiet next to the dark wood-toned base. It also gives the room a calm center, so the veined wall can lead.

The peninsula
The peninsula brings the stone back toward the wall. Its clean, eased edge frames the veining behind it, so the counter and the feature wall read as one composition.

The laundry counter
The laundry room was added at template, and it got the same careful treatment: a countertop with a full-height backsplash and an undermount sink cutout. The white surface runs up the wall behind the faucet, so the corner stays easy to wipe and tidy to look at.

The details that make it work
- Plan for the weight. The 2cm panels need a crane on install day, so access is worked out in advance.
- Let one surface lead. A single veined wall beside quiet cabinets keeps the room calm.
- Edges stay simple. The eased edges keep the counters light and clean.
- Carry the stone through. A full-height backsplash, even in the laundry room, makes a small space feel considered.
